Wisdom: A Gift Beyond Measure

There are things we can learn, accumulate, and repeat.
And then there is wisdom.
Wisdom does not impose itself, does not demand attention, does not seek display.
It is received.

A verse reminds us:
"He grants wisdom to whom He wills, and whoever is granted wisdom has certainly been given much good. And none will remember except people of understanding." Quran Sourat 2 verse 269

Why is wisdom described as a gift rather than the result of intellectual effort?
Because intelligence alone can gather information, but wisdom transforms how we live.

Wisdom is not about knowing everything.
It’s about knowing what to do with what you know.

One can be highly educated and still repeat the same mistakes.
On the other hand, some people, with few words and little theory, know how to listen, wait, and choose the right moment to speak or remain silent. They understand what truly matters. No library can guarantee that.

The verse also reminds us of an essential truth:
not everyone recognizes the value of wisdom.

In a world that celebrates speed, performance, and instant opinion, wisdom can seem slow, subtle, almost invisible.
It requires perspective, humility, and the ability to reflect — rare qualities indeed.

Perhaps this is why it says that only people of understanding will remember it.
Not arrogant intelligence, but awakened intelligence: the kind that realizes true gain is not always material, true power is not always visible, and true wealth begins within.

Wisdom is not a spiritual luxury.
It is an immense blessing, because it illuminates our choices, softens conflicts, and brings meaning even to trials.

And if, instead of trying to know everything, we first tried to become capable of recognizing wisdom… when it presents itself?
